Another Year older...

Wow, it is hard to believe another year has gone by! The older you become the faster the years go by...at least that's how it feels. It has been such a difficult year, but I am proud to say that we are making it through the rough times and are looking ahead to brighter days for sure! My family took me out for breakfast and baked me a Chocolate Cake, my favorite!!! My sweetie gave me the best present ever!!!! A brand new pair of Uggs!!!!

I am so into comfort, and these boots are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn!!! Thanks Sweetie! I love them!!!

My son and I were able to take time yesterday to try to take pictures for the Yearbook and by george, I think we did it!!! I just love this picture taken along the old railroad!! Isn't he just handsome!!! What do you all think, is it a keeper?
The pictures are due to the Annual Staff by November 2. I think we made it just in time!!!

Yesterday I also finished up my Scrapping the Music layout for the week. I was not pleased with it however. I typed some journaling on a transparency and it did not photograph well at all! I didn't get a chance to change it on the STM blog, but when we got home from taking pictures I went to work and stamped out my journaling instead. This is the end result and I like it so much better. You never know when the camera just won't like your work!! At least you can read the journaling now!

Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek!!!
Hope you have a wonderful Monday!!!

Freaky Friday Challenge at AC Bailey

Friday means its Freaky Friday over at AC Bailey and it's my week to post the Freaky Friday Challenge!!! This week's challenge is easy peasy for sure!!! Do a LO using fall colors( brown, orange, yellow, green) or use Basic Grey's Indian Summer Papers, It also has to have a pumpkin
and/or leaves on it. No sweat!!! You will have until next Friday to post your layout in the AC Bailey gallery and also leave a link in the forum. I will pick a winner next Friday!!!

Here's my example:
That's Bethany in the fall of 1991. Whew that was a long time ago!!! We used to rake up all the leaves for the kids to play in. They always had so much fun!!! When we moved to a house that had no trees, we went to a friends house and bagged up some leaves for the kids to jump in! You can't mess with tradition!!!

Thanks for stopping by!!
Have a great day,

Indian Summer Fun

I posted a new card class featuring Basic Grey's Indian Summer papers today on the AC Bailey Blog. I just loved working with these rich, beautiful papers. The matching embellies are fantastic too. Felt Woolies, rub-ons and Element stickers add dimension and character to each card. I also used my new Sizzix Texture Boutique to create the swiss dot papers. What a wonderful tool and so fun to play with too!!!

Thanks for stopping by!!
I appreciate each and every one of you!!!

The end to a Beautiful Season

Good morning everyone!!! I hope this Tuesday finds you healthy and happy! Who can believe that it is October 20th? Where has the time gone? Soccer Season has kept us very busy and I am very sad to say that our record breaking season has ended. The playoff game was one of the hardest games of any sport I have ever witnessed. Our boys played so well!! They controlled the game and played to the best of their ability. However, things happen. Ten minutes into the game, our amazing goalie, was hit in the face with a direct shot off the foot. The poor guy went
down and did not come back into the game.
Who is that with his hands on the ball with the red jersey???
Yes, that is Benny. How many games has he played goalie......0, absolutely none, nada, never. Bless his heart for the courage he had to face the opponent!! He played his heart out. Our guys scored a goal and we were well on our way to the semi finals. Our boys controlled the whole game. They gave it everything they had!!
We were down to the final two minutes of the game and wouldn't you know Corvalis scored. Benny was devastated. We went into over-time and Corvalis scored on him again. I can't tell you the pain in my heart for my son. What a difficult defeat!!! The next day I talked to him and he said you know, "I just didn't imagine my last game in front of the net. I imagined falling to the turf in complete exhaustion after the game from running as hard and as fast as I could the entire game. It wasn't the way I wanted to end my season." My heart still aches for my son. Now it is time to focus on all the records they broke this year. It was a beautiful season!!!

Fun with Basic Grey

Today is my day to post a Technique Tuesday Tutorial at AC Bailey and this is what I came up with:

Basic Grey Thank You Shaped Card

Materials from AC Bailey:

Basic Grey Indian Summer Paper Pack
Basic Grey Take Note Journaling Cards with transparencies
Basic Grey Indian Summer Woolies
Bazzill Paper Pack – Indian Summer
Flora Doodles Paper Florettes – For the Guy
Kaiser Craft Bling
Maya Road Chipboard Letters – Noah
Tim Holtz Distress Ink – Worn Lipstick
Stickles – Fruit Punch

From my stash:
Ribbon

I started with Basic Grey Take Note Journaling Cards with transparencies for the shape of the card. I folded a piece of 6 x 12 cardstock in half and placed the fold to the left.

I traced the journaling card onto the cardstock.

I cut around the card leaving the fold intact.

Then I cut the brown edge off of the journaling card, so that, when I glue the journaling card to my cardstock base, I will have a nice red edge around my card.
I traced the inside of the brown border on a piece of white cardstock to use as the inside of my card.

I glued the Journaling Card and Transparency to the front of the card and I added some Flora Doodles, Woolies, and ribbon embellishments.

I inked The Maya Road Chipboard Alphas with Worn Lipstick

and then added Fruit Punch Stickles to create the glittered alphas.

I cut out the white card insert and glued to the inside of the card and added a Flora Doodle.

(Note: the Flora Doodles gem is green in color, so I carefully removed the green gem and

added a clear gem for color matching purposes.)

I had a blast with these beautiful goodies from AC Bailey!!!
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful day!!!

The October DT gallery has been revealed at Little Red Scrapbook! The DT has outdone themselves this month!!! If you get a chance you might want to stop by and look at all the scrappy goodness in the gallery!!!

I had a blast with this kit. Of course, I always love Webster's Pages papers and these papers were exceptionally pretty. Sara included a sheet of Hambly birdcages which I especially loved! I totally went overboard! In 3 of my layouts this month I used pictures taken by Susan Beth Breuner. She did such a wonderful job that I had to mix the photos with this kit!! The first layout is of our kids. It has been such a joy for me to see their relationship grow into a strong friendship!!! The quote is so true- Siblings for Life...Friends forever! It's a little busy, but I love it!
This layout was already revealed for my monthly challenge and I hope you get a chance to play along!!!
This layout features a picture of Heidi taken at Nutcracker rehearsals. The girls were very fortunate to take part in University of Northern Colorado's rendition of the Nutrcracker for two years. What a wonderful experience! I wanted this layout to be whimsical and I love how it looks like she is communicating with the bird!
This layout celebrates how proud we are of Beth and Matt!!! They are just amazing! Words cannot express enough our happiness at how well they are doing on their own in Seattle!!! We miss them more than we can say!!!
The cards were very fun to make!! The birdhouses came in so handy!!!
Thanks for stopping by!!!
I hope you have a lovely day!!!

A little kink in the road!!

Hi everyone!!
I trust your Thursday is treating you well!

Last night we had a little kink in our road! Benny was having severe neck pain and had been feeling nauseous and had a terrible headache and fever. We thought we should take him to Urgent Care just to be safe. They thought it would be best to take him to the ER to rule out meningitis. The poor boy had to have a spinal tap, but the test results turned out negative, thank goodness!! He was given some medication for the pain and you can tell in this picture that it was working!!
Today he is still feeling terrible...(he doesn't have any more of the medication the ER nurse gave him, lol). He is in bed letting the illness run its course. The worst part is, he is missing the last regular season game today. He was quite angry about that, but we want him better for the playoffs!!!

Little Red Scrapbook Challenge!!!

I want to invite you all over to Little Red Scrapbook for a little challenge!!!
This month's kit features Webster's Pages papers and I think that the
papers are so pretty I thought it would be fun to do a layout about ourselves, but not just any layout.....

Write about what you love most about yourself. It could be something physical or a personality trait or whatever comes to mind. Think of the one thing you wouldn't change about yourself for anything!

This will be good for all of us to do!! So many of us focus on the things we don't like about ourselves...it will be good to focus on the positives and will be a good memory of ourselves to leave for our families!!

I chose to focus on my eyes. You can tell if I am happy, sad, angry or excited just by looking into my eyes. . My eyes tell the whole story!! "My eyes are the windows to my heart"
The photo in the layout was taken by my sweet friend Susan Beth Breuner!!! Thanks Susan Beth!!!

The key is painted with Ranger's distress crackle paint in antique bronze. I also cut apart the Hambly transparency and layered it along with my patterned papers. I just love those birdcages!!

I am having a blast working with these papers!!! If you haven't gotten your October kit, you better hurry!! These aren't going to last for long!!!!

Have a great day everyone!
Thanks for stopping by!!!

This will wrap up my participation in world card day. I have lots of thank you cards to send out to my scrappy friends and a couple of gifts to give as well. Whoo hoo!! That feels good!!
I am so ready to scrap a layout for a change!!! Hopefully I will get time to do so!!!

I have some book work that has to get done, so I am off to get busy!!!

World Card Making Day Fun

I just have to share a few of my WCMD projects.

This first project is set of Quick and Easy Thank you cards. This is my go to design because you can make several cards in a short period of time. I used Jenni Bowlin Papers available at AC Bailey and I also have a couple of these sets in my store too!!! These cards would make a fun little gift for a friend too!! I have tied them up with a pretty red bow just for gift giving!!
Just take a 1-1/4" strip of patterned paper and adhere it to the face of your card approximately 1-1/4" in from the bottom. Print off a thank you strip from your computer and glue to the top and bottom. Add a floral and pearl embellie and you have yourself a quick and easy Thank You card!!!

The second project is Challenge #1 over at AC Bailey. A card with a gift and the gift is a cute little book mark made with a Bazzill Chip corner. You can find the Chip corners at AC Bailey and they are also available at my store if you are intersted!
I made a card base from red cardstock and cut two strips of patterned paper, one piece 1-1/2" long and one piece 2-1/2"long. I cut a 3" tag on my Cricut using A Child's Year Cartridge and then I cut out a cream colored tag slightly smaller than the scalloped tag. I stamped a tree on the front and added buttons and a sentiment.

I added some cream colored cardstock in the inside of the card along with some patterned paper embellishments. You can find the book mark tutorial Here at AC Bailey.
I hope you are enjoying World Cardmaking Day where ever you are!!!

Have a great day,
Kristii

World Card Making Day

World Card Making Day is upon us and we are Celebrating at AC Bailey!

It began in 2006 as National Card Making Day. Founded by Paper Crafts magazine to bring card makers together at the beginning of the busiest card-making season of the year, it was first held on October 7, 2006. The initial celebration involved the Paper Crafts magazine audience only; however, due to the positive response it received and the worldwide popularity of card making, the holiday became known as World Card Making Day from then on.

It is now in its fourth year, World Card Making Day is celebrated annually on the first Saturday in October. It's a day for the card-making community -- hobbyists, retailers, and manufacturers -- to unite and celebrate the connection and creativity that is the heart of card making.

World Card Making Day is a holiday especially for card makers around the world to Celebrate the creativity of handmade cards and the personal connection that they create between friends and family as well as to kick off (and get a head start on) the holiday card-making season.

How many of YOU have already started your Christmas cards???
We here at AC Bailey want IN on the festivities too! So, we are coming together this weekend to make 100 cards!!!! There will be fun, prizes and cards galore...what are you waiting for?? Join us tonight and into the weekend and see if we can meet our goal of 100 cards!!!

Here is one of my challenges: Decorative Punched Border Thank You Cards!!

Decorative Borders really dress up a card! With this card I used the Threading Water Punch which is one of my all-time favorite punches!! I cut some Swiss Dot Cardstock 4.25 x 10 and punched the bottom edge before I folded the card. After I punched the edge, I folded the card so that the punched edge was approximately 1/4 inch longer than the back edge. It makes for an interesting a different twist on an ordinary card. I cut out some October Afternoon papers 4"x3" and 4" x 1.75" and layered them over the Swiss Dot paper. I added some lace, at tag, buttons, and a stamped embellishments to the front, and I have a thank you card ready to go!!!
Check out AC Bailey and join in the fun!!!!
